PCSmoves Cares! - Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

Brave men and women who have been injured while serving our country deserve the best care we can give them. The families of the fallen also need ongoing support. That is the mission of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Since 2000 they have worked to offer financial assistance to families of the fallen and have funded and built state-of-the-art focused care facilities for wounded warriors.

The financial support IFHF offered from 2000 to 2005 to families of the fallen eventually gained momentum and prompted federal legislation to increase benefits to those families. IFHF then shifted their focus to the care of the severely wounded.

The first facility they completed was the Center for the Intrepid in January of 2007. This 60,000 square foot Center provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities for patients and caregivers. Next came the National Intrepid Center of Excellence or NICoE, adjacent to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This 72,000 square foot facility serves those with TBI and psychological health conditions and helps develop and implement the newest treatments and best practices for treatment in these areas.

The newest development for IFHF are the Intrepid Spirit centers which are satellite facilities across the nation to further the reach of support for the physical and psychological needs of our injured service members. Centers in Fort Belvoir, Camp Lejeune, and Fort Campbell are currently up and running. Two additional centers are currently under construction, and funds are still being raised for more facilities.
