A Festive Backyard Fourth

A Festive Backyard Fourth

For the 4th, are you considering a celebration at home with friends, family, or neighbors? From fun food selections, to celebratory (and possibly competitive) activities, we have some festive idea starters for you here.

Small-batch Recipes | Think picnic foods that are easy to make outside or take outside. Fire up that grill, nothing says July 4th like a grilled hamburger or hot dog. Also consider your regional favorites. We are located in the Southeast, so ours include blue crabs, farmers market fruits, sweet corn on the cob, and southern potato salad. Here are some great recipes for your 4th. Our mouths are already watering.

Celebrate With Family & Friends | These activities are fun for all ages. In neighborhood settings, they will serve as a great way to connect with and meet new people.

  • Impromptu Neighborhood Parade: Get the kids to make some signs, decorate bikes, and dress in red, white, and blue. Then ride or walk around the block wishing all a happy Independence Day!
  • Sweet Swap: Share your favorite cookies or homemade treats with neighbors and friends and encourage them to do the same.
  • Corn Hole!: Have a neighborhood or family corn hole competition. Winner will get bragging rights for the year!
  • Make A Playlist: Put together your 4th of July soundtrack. Here are some ideas to get you started.
  • Backyard Beach: Bring the beach to your backyard. The kids will LOVE it!
  • Get Glowing: The kids can safely celebrate with glowsticks, a bonfire, or some sparklers.

Let us know how you plan to celebrate in the comments below. And, as always we thank you and your family for their service to our country. When you have a PCS move coming, be sure to contact one of our Military Relocation Specialists, we are here to help. Happy Independence Day!
